Kiran Dembla has proven that even at the age of 45, a woman, despite being a mother in this patriarchal society, can experience an indelible transformation in herself by doing something unthinkable and being proud of the achievement. Diagnosed with a clot in her brain after the birth of her second child, she realized that it was time to become the woman one wants to see in the mirror. After her recovery in 2007, initially, she started with yoga, and then gyming made her lose 25 kgs of her weight. This acted as a stepping stone and she further pursued a course in fitness training leading eventually to opening her gym in Hyderabad in the year 2008.

Women like her truly prove that dreams do get true if one is consistent in striving towards achieving them. On her 45th birthday, Kiran Dembla challenged herself to build six-pack abs. Her determination took her to the international stage where, with her unparalleled confidence and aplomb, she bagged the 6th rank in the World Bodybuilding Championship held in Budapest in 2013. Her fitness, success, and achievements caught the attention of the film industry. Stars, such as Tamannaah and Anushka Shetty for Mirchi and Baahubali and many others, took a deep interest in collaborating with her to enable and further their fitness journeys. Amongst her star-studded clientele, she has also facilitated celebrities like Rajamouli, Prakash Raj, Ram Charan, Upasana, and Prabhas and helped them rebuild their physique suitably adapting to the physical requirements of the characters they played in various films.

She was a vocal artist at the state level in her college. During her journey of change, she realized that she must follow her passion, which is truly explicit in her professional skills as a DJ. Life is what you make of it. One cannot and should not keep away from achieving one’s dreams.

One must not be swayed by the force of negativities that plant the seed of self-doubt in us and gnaws at our self-confidence, instead, continue to maintain focus on one’s mission. There is an ardent need to stay steadily motivated and believe in oneself.

She is a fitness expert and considers femininity as an important factor behind her consistency and hard work; with her approach, she redefines the concept of femininity. She is an inspiration for women and a voice in a society that speaks especially for those women who still haven’t realized their capabilities and virtues to make a mark in this male-dominated society.

Success comes at a price and one must endure hardships to achieve the desired. When she participated in the Budapest event, she had to face problems. There were three deaths in her family on account of which she was asked to stop consuming non-vegetarian food, a protein-rich diet that was necessary for her body before taking part in the contest. With support from her husband, she would go out of her house and order non-veg food to eat outside thereby reflecting her motivation and dedication to her objective. Her sacrifices bore fruit and she was bestowed with the award for the best body in the contest. And today, the rest of it is history.

Her story is a remarkable and charismatic tale of a woman’s strength, aspirations, hard work, dedication, and determination. Defining the new-age feminist, she is a fitness goddess who is motivating and encouraging others to listen to their hearts and travel the difficult road not often taken. Her life is exemplary for all, giving a message that age is just a number and one can always work and accomplish the dreams. Hurdles are just part of a journey, and one must go for what one’s heart desires.
