Resolving Canon printer 5B00 error code

Reconnect your Canon printer

Canon printers can show error codes due to connection errors. When the error appears, you should check for the printer connection. Your printer connection can get interrupted easily. To fix this, disconnect the printer and reconnect it. When the printer is connected to a cable, eject it. Check the cable for any damage. If the printer cable is damaged or loose, get a new cable for your Canon printer. Also, you should try connecting the printer using a different USB port. If the printer is connected wirelessly, inspect the Wi-Fi connection. Go to the Canon printer and restart the Wi-Fi button. On your Computer, open Devices and tap on Printers & Scanners. Now select Add Device and you will see a list of available devices. Select the Canon printer for the connection. After reconnecting, send a new print command and check for an error code.

Restart your Canon device

A printer 5B00 error can appear when some printer services get stuck. When you send a new job to the busy printer, some services may get stuck and the printer shows an error code. You can try restarting the printer to resume those services. A simple restart may not resume all those services. To fix this, try a power restart. Go to the printer and remove the power cord when the printer is On. Now wait about 5 seconds and reconnect the power cord. Your printer will restart and all printer services will run from the beginning. Now send a new print command and check your device for the error.

Run a printer troubleshooter

You can try running a printer troubleshooter to fix the error. Many times, Canon printers get errors when some printer files get corrupted. Finding and fixing corrupted printer files is difficult. Instead of repairing those files manually, you can try running a printer troubleshooter. Go to the computer and open the Security & Update tab. Tap on Troubleshoot and click on Additional. Select the Printer and tap on the Run button. The printer troubleshooter tool will start running on the device. If any printer files are not working, this tool will fix it. After running the tool, all printer files will get repaired. Now send a print command and take your printouts.

Repair Canon printer driver

Canon g2000 error 5b00 can occur when the printer can’t find the required driver. To fix the error, you have to check for the Canon printer driver on the connected device. Every Canon printer model has a different driver. Sometimes, the user installs the wrong driver and the printer starts showing an error code. Open the Drivers folder on the connected device and check for the Canon printer driver. Check whether you have the correct printer driver or not. If you have the wrong driver, remove it. Now open the Canon printer website and search for Drivers. Check your Canon printer model and download the correct driver. Install the printer driver on your PC and reconnect the Canon printer.

The printer will take a few seconds to recognize the driver. After connection, take your printouts reliably. Sometimes, you can also get errors when the driver is outdated. Go to the Canon printer driver and click on the Update option. After updating your Canon printer driver, you can take your printouts.

Inspect cartridges on your Canon printer

Many times, Canon printers can’t recognize the cartridge and start showing errors. Go to the Canon printer and check for ink level. If the ink level is low, replace the cartridge. Get a cartridge for your Canon printer. While installing a new cartridge, check for the plastic protective clips. These clips prevent the cartridge from mishandling. But remove clips before installing the cartridge on the printer. After installing, check the cartridge slot status. Send a new command and check for errors. Sometimes the cartridge is not installed correctly. Eject the cartridge and check it carefully. Reinstall the printer cartridge and check for errors.

Use original cartridges on Canon printer

Canon printers often show issues with clone cartridges. If the cartridge quality is not good, you will get poor printouts. Sometimes the printer does not even recognize the cartridge. In your Canon printer, use only the original cartridge. If the original cartridge seems costly, you should refill the empty cartridge. Take the empty Canon cartridge and refill the ink. After refilling, insert the cartridge correctly into the printer. Now you can take your printouts. If the Canon printer does not recognize your refilled cartridge then try uninstalling all cartridges on the printer. Take the refilled cartridge and install it on another slot. If the printer recognizes the cartridge now; uninstall it. Start installing cartridges on the correct slots one by one. Now send a print command and take printouts with your Canon device.

Check the fuser of your Canon device

You should also check the printer fuser. Canon can show a 5B00 error when the fuser is overheard. This fuser fuses the ink on paper using heat and pressure. The fuser can get overheated if the user is taking printouts simultaneously. Check the fuser, if the fuser is overheard then shut down the printer. Wait until the fuser cools down. Now restart the printer and it will start taking printouts. Also, check for the printhead. If the printhead is clogged, clean the printhead and take your printouts.
