The HP TET 2022, or the Himachal Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test, is conducted by the Himachal Pradesh Board of Secondary Education (HPBoSE) in Dharamshala to hire teachers at the elementary and upper primary levels. This state-level test helps evaluate and shortlist applicants to teach at the primary and upper primary levels at state-run schools. The primary level includes classes I through V, while the upper primary level includes classes VI through VIII.
Due to the ongoing epidemic, no particular dates have been finalised for the entrance examinations. However, the HP TET 2022 form-filling procedure is tentatively slated to commence in August 2022.
Separate examinations will be held for two different categories, namely primary and higher primary levels. There will be 150 objective-type questions to be completed in 2 hours and 30 minutes. There will be no deductions for incorrect responses, and each correct answer will receive one mark.
Some of the common pre-conditions to apply for HP TET 2022 are:
- You must be 18 years old at the time of applying.
- You must be an Indian citizen.
- If you have an advantage if you have lived in Himachal Pradesh for several years.
- You may attempt the HPTET even in your final year of study.
The following are the qualifying requirements for various positions:
- Candidates for Trained Graduate Teacher (TGT) in Arts are required to have passed BA or B.Com with a minimum of 50% marks. They also need to have completed a 1-year B.Ed or B.Ed (special education) course.
Alternatively, candidates must have scored at least 50% marks in their 10+2 level and have a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.)
- For the Non-Medical Trained Graduate Teacher (TGT) position, candidates must have a B.Sc (Non-Medical) degree with at least 50% marks and have completed a one-year B.Ed or B.Ed (special education).
Or, students must have completed 10+2 or equivalent with a minimum of 50% marks and a four-year Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.) or Bachelor’s degree in Science (B.Sc).
- Shastri Teacher: Candidates must have finished Shastri by scoring at least 50% from any Himachal Pradesh government-approved organisation.
- Candidates for Trained Graduate Teacher (TGT) in Medical must have completed their B.Sc (Medical) degree with a minimum of 50% marks along with a 1-year B.Ed or B.Ed (special education).
Alternatively, students must have passed 10+2 or equivalent with a minimum of 50% marks and hold a four-year Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.) or Bachelor’s degree in Science (B.Sc). (Medical Education).
- Candidates for Language Teacher (Hindi/ Punjabi/ Urdu) must have a BA with Hindi/ Punjabi/Urdu as an elective and a two-year elementary education diploma.
Or, the candidates need to have completed an MA in any of these languages with 50% marks along with a one-year B.Ed.
- For the JBT (Junior Basic Training) position, candidates must have passed 10+2 with at least 50% marks along with one of the following:
- A JBT certificate from a recognised organisation OR
- A 2-year diploma in Elementary Education OR
- A one-year diploma in Elementary Education.
For applicants belonging to the OBC/SC/ST categories, there would be a leeway of up to 5% of points in the previous qualifying examination and the HP TET 2022 qualifying marks.
Cut-off Marks for HPTET 2022
The HPBoSE has established a minimum score for candidates in several areas. The minimum qualifying mark for applicants in the Unreserved Category is 60% on the HP TET 2022 Examination. For applicants from the OBC, SC, and ST categories, a score of 50% on the HP TET 2022 Examination is required to qualify.
All qualified candidates will be shortlisted for document verification as part of the recruiting process. The Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education oversees this procedure in order to improve teacher selection.
