Materials and Methods:

Using a systematic, self-administered, closed-ended questionnaire, a cross-sectional survey of 161 health professionals, including doctors, nurses, pharmacists, technicians, and medical students, was conducted.

Descriptive statistics, ANOVA, Chi square tests, and z-tests were carried out once the responses were gathered.

INTRODUCTION

Dentists and other healthcare providers are aware that the general health of a hospitalized patient cannot be separated from their oral health. Systemic illnesses have a close connection to many mouth disorders.

The combined efforts of the medical and dental professions are necessary for overall health care in the best case scenario.

In the course of their daily job, the medical staff at KFMC encounter many patients. They can play a significant role in the oral health education of individuals and organizations and serve as role models for patients, friends, families, and the community at large if they have the necessary knowledge and oral health behaviors.

Results

There were statistically significant variations between the oral health knowledge scores of the various categories of health workers (P 0.05). Different people had different attitudes on going to the dentist; 52.7% of nurses and 50% of technicians indicated they would like to go frequently.

66.7% of medical students who experience dental pain go to the dentist. 45.8% of pharmacists and 54.5% of doctors say they occasionally go to the dentist. 60% of medical students reported that a toothache was the reason for their most recent visit.

The majority of medical professionals stated that patients’ primary reason for avoiding the dentist was their dread of drilling.
