Finance minister asks South Africa’s pension funds to invest in Government Projects

by Uneeb Khan

Finance Minister Nhlanhla Nene on Thursday asked South Africa’s pension funds to “co-invest” in government projects. Nene told a gathering at the Ingabirwe Social Relief Foundation in Centurion, Pretoria, that pension funds could help finance poverty alleviation programs.

Finance minister Tito Mboweni has asked South Africa’s pension funds to “co-invest” in government projects, as part of a new push for social relief.

The initiative aims to make it easier for companies to access funding from the government, and will come with a commitment from the government to provide financial support to South African pension funds.

“The co-investment approach is an excellent way of ensuring that private sector capital is directed towards socially beneficial projects,” Mboweni said in a statement on Monday. “It will allow us to increase our economic growth while also promoting inclusive development.”

Mboweni added that he would be holding meetings with various stakeholders later this week, including representatives from the public sector and private sector.

However, critics are worried that this could lead to an increase in government spending which could lead to higher taxes or inflationary pressure on the economy as a whole.”

Social Relief is an essential part of the South Africa Funds.

The South Africa Funds are a non-profit organization that was founded in 2016 by the community of Cape Town. The purpose of this organization is to provide financial support for those in need and to help relieve social distress.

The South Africa Funds works with local organizations and volunteers who are working hard to make sure that everyone has access to basic necessities such as food, water, clothing, healthcare and education. The funds also help people who have lost their jobs or have had their homes repossessed due to defaulting on loans.

The funds will be used to help people who are experiencing financial hardship or who need assistance with basic needs. South Africa grants
