Dak Prescott’s return leads Cowboys to victory against Detroit

The Cowboys (5-2) recovered Jamaal Williams’ fumble inside their 1 with a four-point lead early in the fourth quarter. Jared Goff was responsible for four other Detroit turnovers — he threw two interceptions and lost two fumbles.

Prescott was predictably ragged after missing five games with a fractured right thumb. The offense struggled much as it did. When Cooper Rush got a boost from the defense and went 4-1 as the star QB’s replacement.

Elliott’s second TD came after Goff was intercepted by Jourdan Lewis at the Dallas 46.

Prescott threw a 2-yard scoring pass to rookie Peyton Hendershot. After Goff lost the ball on one of two sacks by rookie Sam Williams. giving the Cowboys possession at the Detroit 24.

Elliott had 57 yards on 15 carries, and Pollard rushed 12 times for 83 yards.

Prescott was 19 of 25 for 207 yards, while Goff was 21 of 26 for 228 yards. Williams was effective with 79 yards on 15 carries. But had the critical mistake that kept the Lions from taking a fourth-quarter lead.

PUNTER GETS PAID

Detroit’s Jack Fox averaged 48 yards on three punts a day after the announcement of a three-year contract extension. The deal has the highest average annual value for punters at $3.8 million, according to Spotrac.

INJURIES

Lions WR Amon-Ra St. Brown was ruled out by the concussion protocol. After leaving the game following his only catch in the first quarter. RB De’Andre Swift missed his third consecutive game with ankle and shoulder injuries. After the Lions were hopeful he could return.

‘It’s official!!’ Jonas Brothers to perform during Dallas Cowboys Thanksgiving Day game halftime show

The Jonas Brothers teased the announcement on the brothers’ individual social media platforms. Each posted a blue number on a white, fabric-like background, with part of a red emblem visible in the corner.

Appearing one by one, the numbers: 11, 24, and 22 remained a mystery until the trio later connected. The dots for fans to share the big news in collaboration with the Cowboys, NFL and The Salvation Army.

The joint announcement revealed three Cowboys football jerseys, indicating the Thanksgiving Day performance.

“We couldn’t be more excited to return to AT&T Stadium and play The Salvation Army halftime show,” Jonas Brothers said. “We are honored that our performance will help raise awareness of the great need. That exists and encourages everyone to donate. To The Salvation Army to make a difference in their communities this holiday season and all year long.”

This is the second time the Jonas Brothers will perform during the Cowboys Thanksgiving Day game halftime show. Having first performed in 2008. The performance is a part of the Red Kettle Campaign, now in its 132nd year. 

No. 8 TCU rallies again to beat No. 17 K-State for Big 12 lead

Duggan threw for 280 yards with three touchdowns and Miller ran for 153 yards and two scores as eighth-ranked. TCU beat No. 17 Kansas State 38-28.Overcoming an 18-point deficit on Saturday night to take over sole possession of first place in the Big 12 Conference.

“Everybody’s calm and it’s a good feeling,” Miller said. “When we went down … I was just like we’re fixin’ to get it going.”

The Frogs, with new coach Sonny Dykes, have won four consecutive games over ranked opponents. Three in a row was already a first in school history. Which they accomplished a week earlier at home by overcoming a 17-point deficit to beat then-No. 8 Oklahoma State in double overtime.

“Proud of Will Howard. I thought he played a good football game,” K-State coach Chris Klieman said of the third-year quarterback who hadn’t played. Since Martinez transferred from Nebraska and didn’t take any first-team snaps this week in practice.

Howard, who started 10 games the past two seasons, ran for 14 yards. On his first play and completed his first seven passes for 156 yards. He finished 13 of 20 for 225 yards. leaving the game briefly after hurting his shoulder on a running play late in the third quarter. Freshman Jake Rubley, the third K-State QB in the game.

POLL IMPLICATIONS

The Frogs could move up a spot since No. 7 Ole Miss and No. 9 UCLA, the teams they were between, suffered their first losses Saturday. Kansas State is sure to drop some, but should still be ranked when the new poll comes out Sunday.
