Reece James, the former England right-back, has suffered a knee injury that could rule him out for a month. The Chelsea defender sustained the ailment during Tuesday’s 2-0 win over AFC Bournemouth. He was substituted just 53 minutes into the game and is expected to miss at least a month of action.

This isn’t the first time that he has suffered an injury that sidelines him for a significant period of time. James missed the entirety of England’s World Cup campaign, and a number of important matches in the lead up to it. Previously, he had been out for eight weeks with a knee injury that forced him to wear a brace.

Earlier this week, Chelsea revealed that James had undergone an assessment by their medical staff. It was found that he has a recurrence of a knee problem that caused him to miss the World Cup and a number of crucial games in the run up to it. However, while the injury was a major setback, it’s not as bad as it initially appeared.

There’s been a lot of speculation about whether or not Reece will be able to play a full season, and the injury will likely rule him out of the FA Cup and some of the Premier League’s big games. Nevertheless, the good news is that the Blues have announced that he’s only a month away from full fitness.

While the return of James will boost the squad’s confidence, it’s not going to be easy. Firstly, he’s only played a handful of league matches since returning from the World Cup. Second, he’s been replaced by a few players who weren’t the same attacking threat. And third, he’s also had to take care of his personal health, causing him to miss nine of the Blues’ 19 matches since October. Adding to the ache, his manager, Graham Potter, had already admitted that the defender had a bit of a shaky time recovering from his injury.

For the moment, Chelsea are concentrating on getting the aforementioned ‘torch’ – aka their star player, Jesse James – back in the starting line-up for the next month of games. They have also confirmed that they’ve started internal discussions on a potential replacement.

Man Utd demise, Arsenal’s mistake and Man City glee

The club hasn’t lost a league match in eight weeks, but they haven’t won a top flight game either. That’s a problem in a month when they face Liverpool and Manchester City in the Premier League. As for their FA Cup campaign, they’ve been drawn to Manchester City and Fulham. Despite their recent form, they sit in eighth place, six points off fourth-place Tottenham, but they’ll get their chance to redeem themselves when they take on Nottingham Forest on New Year’s Day.

Despite a number of injuries and a poor run of form, the Blues have the ability to go far this season. The team has the capability of winning the Premier League, but they need to be at their best to do it.
